OUR CULTURE

Our culture promotes and encourages a “come as you are” environment.
We are a diverse group of imperfect folks who want to learn more about what it means to have a relationship with God
and to love one another. You should never feel like you need to “polish up” your life or your wardrobe in order
to come and hang out with us. You’ll meet folks from every walk of life and you may even see some of your friends.
Our aim is to make you feel right at home, with the hope you will experience a sense of
belonging to our community.

Every house is built upon a foundation. Our community is built upon the foundation of the Bible and our theology.

This translates directly to how we think about God, our values, and the kinds of ideas

and attitudes we feel are important. Values express what a church feels like and its ethos.

The four pillars that support our house are what we refer to as, "The 4 C's":

OUR DISTINCTIVES

Qualities That Define Us

Here are short statements describing some of the ways our church community functions and does life together in unique ways.

Everybody Gets to Play

We refuse to have an elite group. Everyone gets to participate in doing the works of Jesus.

Life-Changing Small Groups

The very nature of the gospel and the church leads to reproduction. And the pathway to reproducing healthy leaders and developing mature Christians is through the relationships and bonds forged in small groups. We want to continue this within our own culture and to every other people group God might lead us to serve.

Risk Taking and Experimentation

Risk-taking is often viewed negatively, regarded by some as dangerous or at least unwise. Some risks don’t pay off, but it’s vital to remember some do. Through our trust in Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we all have amazing opportunities to reframe the doing of things that feel like risks as actually being activities giving us opportunity and freedom to grow and succeed. As someone said, "Faith is spelled R-I-S-K." We support one another to take those steps!

Spirit-Led Worship & Ministry

To be a people who seek God's presence and embrace the work of his Holy Spirit is our heartfelt desire. We are given the opportunity daily to express worship and compassion in every part of our lives. This is our expression of loving God and loving our neighbor.

Investing and Equipping

We will continually invest ourselves in training and equipping God’s people to do what Jesus did. We believe the central task of the church is to make disciples -- meaning we're in the people-development business! We also believe that gifting without character is not acceptable for leaders at any level, so we stress developing both of those elements equally in one another.

Commitment to Conversation

We are committed to ensuring that every member of our community has a voice and seat at the table.  For us, relationship with one another is one of our highest and most cherished values. This means in times of disagreement staying committed to keeping lines of dialog open, to doing the hard work of staying in the conversation with one another as long as necessary. "Giving up" is not an option.

Community Partnerships

We understand and are aware that there are many wonderful organizations in our local community, nearby towns, and cities providing needed services to those less fortunate and in need of care. We feel it is our responsibility and honor to be able serve and partner with these groups to provide our time, energy, and resources to help make our community a better place.

Contending in Our Spheres of Influence

We are unashamed that the power and suffering of the Kingdom of God go hand in hand. We encourage one another to be living a life that expects to step out in faith and take what feel like risks so that the presence of the Kingdom may be actively demonstrated everywhere we are.
